Collectively people discard approximately 1 million plastic bottles per minute, and 91% of those bottles do not get recycled. Instead, they make their way into the natural environment, namely our oceans, killing sea life or degrading into microplastics, which we then ingest. Habits of Waste has done their research to tackle this problem by talking to doctors, public works departments, and testing their own tap water. Repeatedly, they found that tap water is good.
